	ORTHOPEDIC IMPLANTS / PROSTHETICS In the past, SBMT was the driving force to develop orthopedic devices such as FRO and Artificial limb to help people who had undergone amputation of legs. In further pursuit, a proposal was submitted to SBMT to develop a low-cost intelligent knee system that will significantly improve the efficiency and gait pattern of the amputee. The project has been recently sanctioned to IISc, Bangalore and IIT, Madras.
