HYDROXYAPATITE BASED MODIFIED INTEGRATED ORBITAL IMPLANT WITH SUPERIOR MOTILITY AND ITS CLINICAL TRIAL

SBMT had earlier funded a project namely ‘Development of hydroxyapatite based porous integrated orbital implants’. Under this project Orbital Implants of different design and size for direct implantation eliminating tissue grafting for fixation to provide a satisfactory functional and cosmetic rehabilitation of the anophthalmic patients was developed. This product is helping patients who underwent or who have undergone enucleation surgery. Currently the product is being manufactured and marketed by M/s Gesco Ltd, Chennai at affordable price.

However due to specific requirements from user eye surgeons to incorporate better features a new project is also in progress to upgrade the currently available CeraEYe implants.
