INTRA-OPERATIVE ELECTROCORTICOGRAPHY (ECOG) ELECTRODES FOR SURGERY IN REFRACTORY EPILEPSY Epilepsy is a common neurological problem and significant number of patients continue to suffer despite multiple drugs. Such patients with refractory epilepsy benefit from surgical removal of the epileptic focus of brain. To enable accurate localization of the focus for removal, intraoperative EEG recording is essential. These ECoG electrodes are exorbitantly priced and hence not widely used.
SBMT has completed development of a Strip electrode and has been validated.
Technology is ready for product engineering and technology absorption.
